I'm sure this has been covered before but a search really didn't yield much so here goes..

Loving my new 09' (479 miles) S.W, but these vibrations that you get when you move off are slightly annoying. Does anyone know which plastics parts are vibrating and how to stabilise them??

Also at slow speeds 15/20 mph & 2500rpm in medium traffic...you can feel it ever so slightly moving forwards and backwards then it eases off, it feels like the bike wants to move into the next gear but it can't so it eases back...

Am i riding this bike wrong in traffic?? I've been asured that the bike is in perfect working order.

Thanks for all your ideas and advice, and thanks to everyone for such a great forum. Safe riding.

p.s Anyone know of any S.W clubs up here in Scotland??

Go to the main page, click on Search and type 'vibration' in the box.
You should get 5 hits.

As for Silverwing riders in Scotland, I don't know of any but I know there are a few maxi-riders there.

Ozbar,

Also go to the main page and search for 'surge'. You should get 1 hit that talks about the slight surging that you are experiencing.

I can't speak for all vibrations on the S'wing, but the one that made the loudest rattle at idle, and when starting off on my bike was the glovebox panel to the front panel. I solved it by slipping a folded piece of paper between the two panels, right near the driver-side curve of the bike. I found that spot by just letting the bike idle, and gently pushing w/my finger on various parts of the dash.

The main issue is the sheer amount of plastic on the bike, and the fact that pretty much every plastic-to-plastic seam on the bike has no damper of any kind, if one of the pieces is just slightly off, the vibration really makes it rattle.

I used hot melt glue to quiet the rattle on several areas. It dries clear. Just a little bit works great, and it comes right off if you make a mistake.

Look here for a suggestion...

I hope this link works.

You might be able to use that technique to help with other areas that rattle.

When I first got my swing I was getting some rattles/vibrations from some rocks and concrete pieces that had gotten stuck up in that black plastic piece on the bottom of the bike under/behind the radiator (this was with only 750mi, too). Once they were out it was noticeably quieter under load.
