Givi Airflow installation? Empty
PostSubject: Givi Airflow installation?   Givi Airflow installation? I_icon_minitimeWed Aug 15, 2012 4:40 am

Hi guys and Gals. Just recieved my Givi AF214 windshield and mounted it up among the mosquitos in my garage this evening. Allwent well for me and the mosquitos but I have Questions about an included kit tjat came with the shield.

The kit has two metal brackets and 4 bolts. As close as I can see, this kit is for the 214DT shieldand I presume it is NOT necessary for the Airflow shield. Am I correct or should I remove shield and start over before riding tomorrow?

Looking forward to some SOUND advice. Thanks.

You fought the mosquitoes and now you've poked a stick in the bracket/no bracket hornet's nest. You will get " sound" advice from both sides and then you will have to make your own choice. If you go to the pictorial section (which you may have already done) you will see this discussion. I think both screens attach the same way. It is the adustable part that is different. I may be wrong and those who have the AF screen, please correct me.

The link below will lead you to the many debates we have had regards the Givi AF214 and the two little brackets.

I fitted the brackets, many never. We are all still riding and using the AF214.

Your call!!! Smile

If you want to do it the right way, rather than the easy way, install the brackets. It might save you some cracked plastic down the road.

Geez, this is almost on a par with "What oil should I use." Read the arguements in the previous discussions and decided to install the brackets, as I like my ride to be as safe and strong as possible. Now,if I plan it right, I can get the job done before our State bird, the Mosquito, attacks and carry me off. Thanks to all for you comments.

Greyfox,

You are right. This is like the oil, darkside, and by passing the kickstand switch. I didn't bother with it and I have probably 20,000 miles on my bike and the screen is still rock solid. If you want to install then do it..if not then you will still be good, IMO. I didn't install it with the regular Givi either and it was rock solid too.

If you are unsure then I would suggest you install it.
