High Mileage

Post from a guy on the SWing facebook forum. He bought a 09 with over 127,000 miles on it! Anybody else get up high?

Somewhere on the forum is a report of a Silverwing with significantly over 150,000 miles on the clock.

Hi Guys, I have the high mileage swing
After <700 miles despite a bill for replacement from the seller/garage the belt broke
All fixed now
If the bill had not been in the pack the dealer gave me I would have taken the covers off to check
Pretty scary pitch black, major 3 lane dual carriageway A130 UK wishing I had got round to fixing hazards with ign off,

I had 2 new SilverWings, totaling near 100,000 miles, but I traded each at near or 50,000 miles....but I think they would have gone at least 100,000 each.....problem owning/riding high mileage SilverWing is probably costs more to keep than small car in US----and I do not like to monkey with old bike---recent small/cheap car in US experience---new Mitsuibishi Mirage and now new Chevrolet Spark----heaters and AC in both great!Change oil, reg fuel and air in the tires, and they go.

Well, My 2001-02 FJS4002 has close to 300,000 kilometres on it. Racked up by the previous 7 owners.

I just had the starter motor repaired today, but the engine is still working darn fine. Talk about Honda reliability!

That's interesting, I wasn't aware the FJS 400 was around as early as 2001-02, only the FJS 600. The official launch of the FJS Silver Wing 400 was on 29 September 2005, at the Stade de France, Paris.

Honda UK never brought the FJS 400 Silver Wing to our shores either.

I believe the FJS400 was introduced in Japan very early on, before hitting the European markets. The model number FJS4002 is a JDM and was probably sold exclusively in Japan and South East Asia!

Thank you for the info. We tend to forget that Southeast Asia has a massively larger maxi scooter market than Europe and North America. Before the internet info on maxi scooters was limited to what you read in magazine articles and reviews.

Now YouTube clips it's now far easier to find out about new maxi scooters, and the models from manufacturers like SYM and Kymco that seem to be specifically for Southeeast Asia.
