Hi all,

New SW owner here from Devon, down in the South West of the UK.

Mid fifties, and finding my other bikes a (literal) pain to ride long distances, it was time to try a Maxi. Initially, I tried a small Aprilia Scarabeo, then progressed onto a 400 Burgman. The Burgman's old and a bit of a nail, but the novelty of being able to ride all day without discomfort or needing painkillers won me over.

To replace my big touring bike, the 400 didn't cut it so it was a toss up between a 650 Burg, or the 'wing. I'm no stranger to pulling bikes apart, but the Burg transmission sounded like an expensive problem just waiting to happen if it ever went wrong.

So a 20,000 mile, 2002 Silverwing now resides in my garage beside the 400 Burgman (and the XJ900F, the KLE500 and the Enfield Bullet).

Initial impressions are that the 'wing takes up as much garage space as the K1100LT, the FJ1200 or the ST1000 I used to own, but the riding position and ease of use mean it's going to be a keeper.

Current plan is to sort the few minor issues with it (warped front disk, inoperative handbrake and a few tiny niggles) then ride the wheels off of it!

Hi and welcome,

Very underestimated bike was the KLE with a nice chirpy sounding engine.

welcome from a sunny Kent, I fix my own bikes and find the Silverwing easy to work on when needed. Its an armchair on wheels, but when I'm out with the Honda Owners club rides, it has no trouble keeping up or doing the long distances involved.

Welcome arry_b to the BEST SWing forum on the net. Lots of info here and the "Search" box at the top left is your friend. If it's not there then just ask and someone will more than likely have an answer.

Welcome and enjoy. Lots of useful info to be had by using the search function. Brakes are not too hard to work on. Some good tutorials available, so give it a look.
