Here’s a nice photo of Mike’s Silverwing at Peggy’s Cove in Nova Scotia.

Very nice photo. But it looks chilly there. But what the heck. It's chilly here too.

For once I knew exactly where that was.  We were there on a New England cruise about 8 years ago.  No scooter but this is how it looked, very picturesque.

Black Swing is not just faster but pretty with the undercarriage in Silver. I'll have to remember that when I need to replace mine again! Laughing

Tim, I feel honored to have that picture selected for the November forum picture.  Thank you.

Peggy's Cove, as Evil Twin might agree, is a place where you can go and just sit on the rocks and let time go on wherever it wants to.  It is a place where nothing is happening, but you just sit on the rocks and watch the waves, listen to the surf and smell the fresh sea air... and forget all your worldly problems.  I hope you had a great cruise Evil Twin and enjoyed Peggy's Cove.  It is the "go-to" place in a big storm if you want to see some big waves.  It can be a tragic place too.  Where the sea reaches the land there can be rogue waves that reach out and grab you if you had ventured too close to the edge.  This happens too often and the place is covered with warning signs encouraging caution.  Some Maxi Scoots members visited this fall by cruise ship out of Boston and my wife and I had the privilege of taking them to Peggy's for a while.

That shot was in late June a few year ago ... but the place doesn't change.  There are two web cams of the NS Web Cam system there.  One showing the lighthouse, https://www.novascotiawebcams.com/en/webcams/peggys-cove-lighthouse/ and another showing Peggy's Cove Village https://www.novascotiawebcams.com/en/webcams/peggys-cove-village/ which shows the same scene without the Silverwing.

A rough and stormy day there today.

Mighty Mouse, this is a 2005 S'Wing and Titanium Metallic, YR-183M-PN, is the color... a  grey of sorts.

Hi Mike

It was a pretty little spot for sure.  Thanks for those webcam links.  We visited here and also went to the lighthouse on the rocks.  That particular day there were quite a few folks around since its a popular tourist spot.  We also visited Halifax with a walk around town and a tour of an old military fort.

A few more tourist pics.

Hi There Evil Twin,

Really glad you enjoyed your visit here.  The cruise ships come into Piers 20 to 23 from April until early November.  It is getting to be quite the business for bus tour companies.  Peggy's Cove is always the prime destination.  One day a few weeks ago it was said there were about 10,000 cruise ship visitors here.  Imagine that many people at Peggy's at once.  Another web cam pans the cruise terminal and downtown area.  It catches some of the Halifax Citadel too. (The old fort you mention.)  But lately the sweep freezes and the camera may go to a static night time picture at times.  Here is the link for that camera:  https://www.novascotiawebcams.com/en/webcams/pier-21/   Try clicking on the pause button and the resulting play button at the left bottom corner of the picture.  This seems to kick start the sweep again.

Another story of Peggy's Cove relation is the story of the Swiss Air 111 that crashed into the sea at the horizon on a line with the lighthouse.  Google that for all the info. I heard the pilot's PAN, PAN, PAN on a scanner.  The air traffic controller asked for a reply ... but none was ever received.  A restaurant about 6 minutes from the road into the lighthouse was established by the father of one of the crash victims. In recent years he sold the place which retains the same name, Shaw's Landing.  If you ever return to Peggy's Cove, this place is highly recommended for a meal.

I bet you might agree that one day off a cruise ship is not long enough to tour Halifax and area.  If you follow The Curse of Oak Island on the History channel and wanted to see the island you would need at least 5 hours just for that.  A tour of Lunenburg makes for another interesting stop.  The Bounty for the movie was built there and was the Bluenose II, the ship on the back of the Canadian dime.  These places are not far from Halifax but too far for only a one day visit.   So ... come on back and spend a few days.

Mike
