Found on Face Book. Here's a beautifully composed photo of James Ferrante of the Royal Bastards SC taken by Shaun LaBate.

It's just plain stupid riding without gloves (cue the usual excuses about hot weather etc), but hey he's an old boy who should know better, and it's his skin to lose.

Riding behind that useless OE Honda screen can't be that much fun either, especially wearing an open face helmet, whether he's wearing ear plugs or not.

Main beam in daylight too, guaranteed to piss other road users off.

Are you sure gloveless beardy bloke isn't really a member of the Inconsiderate Bastards Scooter Club.

LOL I've asked about similar photos on other forums and was told " these kind " were for photo ops. Hmmm if you want a good photo op why not one that promotes safe riding.

Calm down everybody ! Wouldn't we all want a picture of ourselves riding? ( A forum competition perhaps?), If he had face protection, you wouldn't see him. Gloves?...yeah a risk for sure, but it's a planned shot.

Great picture and it shows off the SW nicely.

With all due respect and knowing that there's the Patriot Guards and similar organisations, riding around with your nations flag flying behind you on a motorcycle or maxi scooter is a US thing.

You very rarely see it here in the UK and over in Europe, in fact the only time I've mounted our Union Jack or Union Flag on a motorcycle is the occasional FIM Rallies I've attended. It's held annually in different European countries where entrants are all part of their National Team.

The highlight of a FIM Rally is the Parade Of Nations where thousands of motorcyclists ride together through the host city in an A to Z of nationial teams, flying or displaying their country's flag on their bikes, scooters, sidecar outfits and 3 wheelers.

I've then usually swapped or exchanged my flag, plus any Team GB souvenir rally T shirts, badges, and decals/stickers with riders from other countries on the final evening of the rally. A traditional end of FIM Rally custom.

BTW, he must be holding the 'pass' switch because the dip light goes out when the full beam is switched on...correct?

No "Pass" switch on our FSC models. Both lights ON with high beam.

Cosmic Jumper, I'm staggered! Every time I ride at night I wish I had both lights on when in 'full beam'.

Does this present any problems with overheating in prolonged use?

No overheating that I'm aware of. And never heard a report of headlight lenses or reflectors melting either. Given the traffic and population density in this area,as well as on freeway/Interstate routes, I've never had the occasion to have the high beam ON for much more than a couple of minutes before coming up behind the next vehicle or on-coming traffic.

Yeah, I see what you mean (so to speak). Much of the roads here (and abroad), are of the dark, tree-lined type. Looking out for Deer and Foxes etc. would be helped by both lights.

I find that when going from 'dip' to 'high beam' I lose the peripheral light. I've held the 'pass' light on sometimes for extra light when on 'dip' but wondered if it would overheat. Nice to know that you don't have any problems with it during short usage.

Could I re-wire my switches?.......no, don't go there !

Why don't you just upgrade both headlight bulbs, the OE bulbs are average at best and it's simpler and less expensive that fannying about trying other options.
