Valve stems Empty
PostSubject: Valve stems   Valve stems I_icon_minitimeSun May 21, 2017 12:02 pm

Angled Valve Stems, I understand that many on this Sight do not Ride Fast. A Scooter because of its Small Diameter wheels must Spin them Rapidly to Keep up with Traffic. Centrifical force at these High RPM's forces an angled valve stem outward so that the stem can actually touch the Rim. When the Stem is New and Flexible Most times you can get by with this, When the rubber Hardens it will break off at the rim, Instant Blow out. This is not a Problem on the Rear of The Silver wing Because of the Factory Stem Support. Honda had a reason for not using an angled Stem Assembly on the Front. By using a 3/8" Wide by 1/16"Thick Brass bar stock I Fabricate a stem support, Drilling a 1/4" hole thru the flat bar, Splitting and opening the end of the bar so that it will pass over the valve stem threaded end. The other end is bent so that it supports the valve stem off the wheel, A nice bend at the rim causes this to fit properly. Crimping the split end onto the valve Stem, Then Cleaning up and rounding the corners before soldering, Once everything is in place. This makes a Bullit Proof Stem assembly. If you do not like the Brass appearance a little Black paint makes this assembly look Factory. Heavy Valve stem Caps worsen this problem. swing Happy Motoring lloyd 193.
