Google Pigeon Forge fire update for some info, you might try Gatlinburg in your search also.

I Merged the two seperate "Blue Ridge" posts and also moved the topic out of Introductions over to General Chat.

Please try to be more observant when it come to where you initiate and respond to posts. No need to begin a new topic to reply to an existing post.

TY Cos, good moving. I myself am planning on going up to the blue ridge this summer. I don't know how far the fire went, but Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge and Cherokee are all at the west end of the Blue Ridge. the Blue Ridge goes 400 miles to the east, all the way into Virginia. There has to be an awful lot of it that is not burned! I will start out at Cherokee and go east on the Blue Ridge and see how the ride goes. If I go as far as Roanoke VA, I will head north up 220 to Fincastle, then commence on "A.G.s Loop", It's a 137 mile long loop, starting at Fincastle, then New Castle, Paint Bank, Covington, Warm Springs, Millboro Springs, Cliftondale Park (that one is for Cliffy!), Eagle Rock, and back to FinCastle. A.G. said it's a really nice ride.

E.D.,
After you pass Boone, NC be on the look out for rough roads and potholes on the Parkway...My wife and I took a ride from Cherokee to Mt. Airy and really enjoyed the ride except (coming back from Mt. Airy-about 10 miles) we hit a hole so hard it blew-out my right front fork!
I am sure you will have a great time. Be safe and enjoy the ride.

As far as the fire goes.....you wont even notice it on the Parkway after the leaves all come out.

This just in.....the Parkway is closed between mile marker 402 to 408 due to smoke from a fire off Pisgah Hwy. This will be well taken care of before your trip....again, this is smoke not flame.

Thanks Pastor, My road trip is quite a way off, mid July 2017 in the midst of tourist season, also the warmest part of the year, so I am sure that they will have things patched up by then. Being that the road is such a tourist draw, I would suppose that they monitor it quite well. But nevertheless I will keep a sharp eye out for any safety hazards on the road. I can't afford any mishaps that far from home.

I see you had a 78' Honda 750. I did also, a 78' or 79' CB750. I rode it for many years. It was a fine bike for it's time.

I road that area many years ago. Boone, Blowing Rock. Grandfather MT. Its all good, watch your speed
Federal road. Park rangers can write you tickets. Expensive if they don't like you.
Check out the Dragon RT. 129 Tenn. 318 curves in 11 miles. It can get busy best to go on a weekday.

I know the Dragon well.....when I had my Burgman (that I put on my own belt (without a manual) incorrectly) I ended up blowing the top part of my motor when the new belt broke....a learning experience.....But, if that did not happen....it would have taken me a lot longer to get my wonderful Swing!
