PostSubject: New Trip fall   New Trip fall I_icon_minitimeMon Jul 11, 2016 9:07 am

Near end of Aug riding to Nova Scotia & New Brunswick....simply because I have not been there before. 7-10 day trip for me. Maybe going back to simple camping, new dog, Donald as watch dog. Bike needs no special prep other than fresh rear tire done at home, oil change at near end of Aug with WalMart oil done at home I see fewer people making trips/journeys with SilverWings----probably one reason, the bikes are getting old. My 2013 leftover has been on road near 2 years....and will be ridden to 50,000 miles by me. 15,000 or so to go and then new machine time for me. Past experience has shown me 50,000 miles good time to trade. Original lites still good, battery still service able, drive belt still fine(at 50,000 miles) usually 3rd belt. Tires ok, maybe 5th or 6th rear, second front---other than Givi adjustable windshield/Givi rack/CB750 (old) mirrors---leave bike stock--it was designed to ride.
No electronic devices for me, old map book works fine. Carry spare drive belt, tools to include big socket for rear wheel removal.

Riding clothes----Probably my Aerostich yellow Darien Jacket, Darien pants----dont find them overly comfortable but they are waterproof and work ok for me with only long underwear underneath. Warm down to about 32 F. I have one pr of Wolverine 12" water proof boots.....they save carrying pr of rubber overboots. Gloves
many pr, including overmitts for rain/cold Helmet new open face------lots of throw away foam ear plugs.
I have Aerostich electric bib----usefull for me after rain has run down your front and you are starting to get cold. Space permitting, my new leather jacket with liner=really more comfortable than Darien----rain Darien fits well over the leather jacket. Idea is to remain comfortable. Feather jacket always in stuff bag under seat in case needed.Secret after 61 years of doing this, do not hurry, remain dry, relax----Dressed right....when it rains.....I pass all the Harleys riders who blasted by/making noise....as they are hiding under bridges.

I do have cell phone in my pocket.

Have a safe trip. Glad to see you are out riding rather than just talking about it. I can tell by your previous posts that you put miles on.

We am headed for a trip to Idaho, Utah, Colorado and New Mexico tomorrow. We are doing it two up and camping. We will be toting a trailer behind the Goldwing. Our focus will be traveling / sight seeing and recreation. We are prepared for 3500 miles in 12 days of fun.

John,
For planning what you might like to see here, check out : http://www.novascotiawebcams.com/en/webcams/ski-martock/ There are about 75 web cams all over the province. Lunenberg and the Annapolis Valley are very scenic. If you are coming here for the scenery, then Cape Breton and the Cabot Trail are worth consideration. The Nova Scotia tourist bureau have lots of guides and pamphlets out. One is a guide for motorcycles. If you get to Halifax, I hope we might get a chance to meet. And a run to Peggy's Cove Lighthouse is a must! There is a series of highway cams available, here and in NB, so you could get an idea of what the roads look like in your planning stages.

Mr Grinsel, hopefully you are aware that there are certain restrictions on bringing dogs (and other animals) into Canada. Best to check the regulations beforehand rather than be turned back at the border because you're unable to provide the proper documentation.

Same applies when returning to the US
