Rear brake pads Empty
PostSubject: Rear brake pads   Rear brake pads I_icon_minitimeWed Sep 02, 2009 7:02 pm

I just changed the pads on the rear caliper of my SW and I have to tell you I've changed brake pads in a lot of vehicles and bikes and this is the easiest of them all. If you're just replacing the pads all you have to do is put the bike on the centerstand, remove the pad pin keeper, pull the pad pin out of the caliper, press the caliper inward to push in the pistons a bit to free up the pads, drop the pads out, replace with new and replace the pin and keeper. Fifteen minutes if you're not in a hurry.
It was interesting to note that the same pads that fit the rear of the SW also fit the big Valkyrie and the ST1100. That says the rear brake is plenty big for this little scoot. If you go with EBC pads the part number is FA196 and the price is a bit over $30.

I just changed the front and rear brakes on mine. YES, it's as easy as you say.

Hello everydody.New member from Greece here.Concerning the rear aftermarket pads we have to remove the inox isolator holders as well as the isolators themselves between piston and pad 'cause there's no space for them as ...EBCs at least... are thicker than the OEM ones.We can put them back after 500 miles at least

They are ON the pads ....at least on my FJS and they are not shown at the diagram.Honda does not sell them separately .They are in the container as a set with the pads. Its good to keep them when you change OEMs with aftermakets.

How many miles did you get on your old brake pads?

I have 20,000 on mine and they are still O.K.
