I've got one lurking somewhere in the depths of a storage box, a clamp on MRA X-Screen 'Touring' Spoiler, I bought it to replace the Pirschjäger one I used to have. MRA also do a X- Screen 'Sport' version. Touratech are another that do a clip on spoiler. So what have you got? |

| The real question I---do they work on modern big scooter?? Answer-- I usually say NO----basic design of maxi-scooter is that your nose is too far from tip of screen----I have had MRA and several Laminar lips---all not working so good----SilverWing can be made to be quite calm behind screen with GIVI adjustable shield, some Baker Air Wings on the side and homemade lowers around the feet----my base line for comparision is Heinrich upper and lowers equipped BMW.
Spoiler should be bolted on. |

Spoiler should be bolted on. Heinrich was expensive German made low volume stuff and only available for old 1950s - 1980s airhead BMWs, and you're sitting upright or slightly forward on a bike, not FF and back in the seat like you do on a maxi scooter so of course you're further away from the screen. I fitted SAENG Stealth screen edging on my BMW K75 RT and it worked pretty well, it wasn't so good on my Helix stock screen but it worked on the Sprint Manufacturing screen I replaced it with. With the MRA X- Screen Spoilers there are two ways of mounting them, permanently by drilling two holes either side of the screen for the mounting brackets, or using the clamp version which means you can remove it when you sell the scooter. |

| I've been looking into this issue. Laminar lips and clamp on/bolt on spoilers for the standard screen seem to be about half the price or a bit more than, say, a GIVI AF214. For all the clamp on extenders are, that seems a bit pricey. I actually like the standard screen as far as it looks but, in honesty, above 70mph it's useless, even above 60 it's not great for a tall bloke like me. I've looked at other screens and the GIVI seems the best value and most highly rated so I intend to fit one over the winter, before I start any semi-serious tours. Gerald, where are you in The Province? I'm in Sunny Bangor! Well, it was today anyway!! Not to many SWings in our parts. |
