Does anyone know if the UK specification of the luggage rack has changed since 2009?

I want to fit a Givi SR19 plate to my new UK 2013 (probably 2012) model. Givi mounting kits are rated only up to 2009.

Talking to a Givi retailer this morning, they thought that there would be no problem, as ....
1 - the rack is unlikely to have changed, and
2 - to date, nobody has complained or taken one back to them.

But they were unable to guarantee correct fit. Any thoughts good people?

What I do is check the Honda part numbers from one year to the next (on unpainted parts). What you will find is Honda uses the same parts year after year because they work.

The way Honda thinks is, Why change something if there is no problem with the design or function.

Thanks RArch, most kind. I think I understand HOW it fits, it's whether it WILL fit to a later model. I'm in frequent contact with my chum MikeO, who had the same box on his Belgian model, and has offered assistance on all things "S'wing" . [Thinks ... Question ... I hope that doesn't sound like a snub to you!!!]

I phoned Honda UK and was diverted to (I think) a US operator who hadn't a clue and told me to phone a dealer - which I did. Speaking to the Parts Dept, they said that there should be no problem as the design hadn't changed.

I'm now having a rethink!
First, will a Givi E52 spoil the sleek look of the Swing? Second, the position of the box overhangs the rear wheel by quite a distance (on the Burger it was further forward) and will that adversely affect the handling?

Colin, have a butcher's in my album; there are pictures of my Silverwing just after I'd fitted the E52 but before I'd bought the Givi windscreen.
Yes the box does overhang but it made little difference to the handling.

The only (minor) drawback is that it's quite high; if you're into reflective clothing you do need some which has reflective shoulders - so many HiViz jackets seem to have black shoulders.

No problem Colin, the idea of seeing how mine was fitted and comparing it to your bike would show if there was a difference which I doubt. If you want to see it we are not far from each other at all, the offer is always open Smile

Ta very much.

Actually, I wonder if you might undertake a small service for me, if you find time? Shocked Could you measure the spacings of the bolts on the underside of the stock parcel rack, please? If mine are the same, then we have the answer to the question.

Sure.

They are arranged in a rectangular shape 6x3 inches, thats 6 inches across the front (nearest the seat and left to right) with the sides (front to back) being 3 inches. I couldn't measure across the back but the sides look parallel which would make it 6 inches too. It was measured with a steel rule using mark one eyeball...

Off to work now and its sunny out there, I will take the long way Cool

Yes and in conjunction with a Monokey box.
I am told by my pillion passengers that the separate backrest is far more comfortable than the backrest pad as it's lower.

I bought my Swing new last September. A couple of weeks later I fitted the SR19 plate and TB19 backrest with no problem in about an hour.

It's really frustrating having to jump through these hoops to check that parts fit later models because Givi haven't updated their sales information but unfortunately they're not the only company guilty of this! Mad
