Today turned out to be a lucky day for me.

7 of my fellow riders and I started out on a perfectly beautiful day for another 200 plus mile ride.

After 75 miles of mountains, I had a slow flat. As luck has it there was a ranger station in the Los Padre National forest. Damn good thing to, because there was no cell phone service for any of the phones.

Well, the phone in the office was not working BUT there was someone there working on the problem.
After about half an hr. I was on the phone to Geico insurance and they said they would find some one and that they would be there in 2 and a half hr.
So I played the bitch and off we went to have more of the great Buffalo and Elk burgers we had eaten two weeks before, 20 miles down the road.

When we returned, the boys went home, knowing I would be picked up soon enough.

After waiting past the pick up time I went in to call and the phone was not working again.
Well, the tow truck was only half and hr late, not bad considering where I was.

Gieco pays for the first 75 miles and $2.50 every mile after.
Good luck strikes again. It was 74.5 miles back to the shop where I dropped off my scooter.
And again as luck has it, I called in 1/2 hr after closing and they waited and extra 20 min for me to arrive.
It was a good day all around because it could have been a lost worse. :lol!:

Why didn't you or the people you were with carry tire repair tools?? Beginers?? Should take pump, repair kit for pluging small holes-----#1 walking sucks #2 calling tow truck not cheap

I use Ride On for balancing aid in my tires and it also will seal small leaks!

Using plugs is only get home measure from safety standpoint

I did have an electric pump and a tire repair kit. The leak was in the valve stem. And I do use Ride-on. and I also carry a fuel siphoning hose just in case.
Only because I am a new-B not like you, I only have around 40,000 miles under wheels but I still have 65 years of life behind me to know better.

+1 on changing the valve stem with every tire. I had a valve stem fail catastrophically in my Reflex a few years ago and I lost control of the bike. Thankfully it was very early in the morning and there was nobody else on the road. I also use geico on my bikes and they towed me to a scooter dealer 10 miles away that was thankfully one of the few motorcycle shops open on a monday. The shop was able to break the bead with the tire still on the bike, and they had the correct right angle valve in stock so I was rolling again in a half hour. It did take more than 2 hours for the flatbed to arrive though.

I had the valve stems fail on my van (commercial vehicle), it was 3 years old by this point, and the tyres were still the originals.

The front pair failed in the same week, so I got the rear pair changed also.

It was the first time I'd experienced that.

Totally agree about using the puncture prevention gel or at the very least plugs and a footpump.

You can choose what you carry, but you can't choose where or when you're going to need it.
