Passenger Question

What is the preferred way for a passenger to mount the Silverwing? Driver first and leave on sidestand? Driver first and straighten up the scooter? Passenger first? Passenger can use the left passenger peg to step on before swinging a leg over the seat? Etc.? Technique?

I hope I don't get scolded and told to "use the search."

I always let my wife climb onboard first, usually while on the double stand, then i jump on and push forward off the stand. The same technique for the single stand. She always likes to get on first because she can easily get on the lower seat and then slide back. If i were on first i think it would be a lot harder for her to climb on with the rear case also in the way!

Driver first,straighten scooter then passenger. Works for me

Don't get me wrong,I enjoy having my pillion with me,but the Swing seat makes it top heavy,and more attention is required riding at slow speeds.

I guess the real question is: can one stand on the passenger pegs? While mounting, and if riding on rough roads, or long rides, and the passenger simply wants to stand up?

I wouldn't advise anyone putting their full weight on one of the SW's folding footrests. They aren't nearly as skookum as those on most motorcycles. The way I let a passenger get on the SW is the same as we did on the Goldwing. I straddle the scooter as far forward as practical, hold the brakes and steady the scooter and the passenger gets on the back seat by throwing a leg over and sliding on. I really don't like rocking the bike off the center stand with the weight of two people on it. Those stand pivots are strong but not really designed to handle that much load on them though it depends on the total weight.

This was a very important issue for my wife and I.
We have decided the Silverwing is Not for us.

I concur with exdavid's explanation of pillion mounting!!! (May regret the last bit!!!)

First I ride my scooter....not drive it. Works better than way.

Passenger-----rider mount 1st, hold bike with brakes or I suppose even parking brake----passenger mount from left side and not grab rider around neck! Side stand down in case something happens.

Stepped seats suck...jacking passenger way up in air----get a fat one and there is real problem=top heavy scooter.

Last I find difficult to have passenger heavier than me AND of course pay attention to load limit of bike/scooter.

I know this is cheating, but, with my Danson Trike kit there's no issue with either a passenger or the driver mounting the SW.

I've only had a passenger on board once. However, I did notice the extra weight on curves and turns.
