Bought my 2003 FJS600 in May and have used the information on here to remove front & back wheels, replace tyres and refit. Very helpful info, so it seemed churlish not to sign up and say hello.

I use my Silverwing to commute and have racked up 4,500 miles on her so far. Full service is next on the agenda, as well as an imminent belt inspection & replacement, as she's on the original one which now has 9,500 miles on it.

I also plan on making her as comfortable as possible for winter and future long-distance riding and would welcome any tips - screens, heated handgrips, muffs, deflectors etc - on what to use & what to avoid. Oh, and places to go for good deals!

In the meantime, I plan to keep reading up and learning from the excellent posts on here.

Cheers, Nic

Welcome to the site, Nic.

Looks like you are well on your way to getting her customized nicely. I got my Wing just about a year ago and I'm coming up on 10,000 miles now. I rode her all Winter, since we had so little snow. I've got heated grips and solid handguards and Gerbing heated jacket liner and heated boot insoles. (I mounted the heat controler in the left side cover so I can just plug my jacket in once I mount the bike.)

Good luck and enjoy the ride.

Welcome Nic. More important than the miles on the belt is the age. Probably over ten years.. It sounds like you have used this forum to help do your maintenance. That's one of the great things here. Enjoy your ride.

Welcome,

For a screen I would go for the Givi Airflow AF214.

Leg Deflector - Nelson Boll does some very good ones, A third of the price of the Honda ones and they are flexible (unlike the Honda ones that crack and break very easily - ask me how i know!). http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&ftab=AllFeedback&userid=reflexscooter&iid=-1&de=off&interval=0&items=200 - he may not be making them anymore.

Cheers,

Welcome from the western edge of the Forest, Nic. As it's so quiet, I don't think the Swing will be frightening the horses - unlike my Harley which I have to ride by VERY slowly when they're standing in the road!!! Smile

Hi guys. Thanks for the welcome and the tips. Atrick/Gerry, I know what you mean about the ponies. My missus has four, so I always try to take care when riding past them. Especially on one of my Lammies, which has a fairly loud and noisy crackle to to its pipe. The Silverwing is pretty silent by comparison, more of a low rumble.
