I bought a very small Slime tire pump today at Walmart for $10. Much smaller than their $20-30 variety. 4" X 3 1/2" X 1 1/2". It calls for the cig lighter outlet to be rated 15 amps or higher. Anyone know what amp the SW is?

My Can Am outlet is only 3 amps but the larger Slime pump I have been carrying has aligator clips to use on the battery. If the outlet on the SW is too low, I'll solder some aligator clips on in place of the cig plug.

Shoot, now you've got me wondering. I was thinking there was one in one of the glove boxes or under the seat. Musta been thinking of my previous B400. Will look to make sure in the morning, but it doesn't matter much; I'll just go ahead and convert it to aligators and can use it on either machine. But then if I go on a trip, without an outlet, I wouldn't have a way to keep the cell phone charged!

BTW, while I'm out in shed I'll check to see if my oil has any of that ZDDP in it! Wink

Thanks for info Bigbird. Smile

Got up early this morn and went out to speak with Mr. Scooter. He said if he'd had some of that majic ZDDP stuff he wouldn't have dumped my arse off a few weeks ago and got us both busted up. Told him BigBird had a case on the way via Fedex Express. Made him real happy. Razz

The standard Honda power socket in the LH glovebox is 1 Amp or 12 watt

If you add your own run it directly to the battery and fuse it to 10 or 15 Amp

I fitted an extra stainless steel marine socket under the rear tupperware and run a well hidden battery isolator switch on my neg from the battery. This allows me to charge the battery through my power socket while isolating the rest of the bike from the charger. It works like a dream and is an anti theft idea too.

Last time I tried a multi-plug thing for the cigar lighter socket with wires and adapters which broke my old smartphone.

I now have a simple one-piece cigar to usb plugin thing which is rated at 12v and 1amp. Will this charge my iphone 5?

I'm a bit spooked. Can anyone confirm that this gadget will work?

Simple answer.
| Look at your charger or Manual you got with the phone.. It will give you the output in volts and milliamps !000 milliamps =1 amp If your charger shows more than 1 amp or 1ooo milliamps have a generic socket put in, and fuse it to suit the amps as per charger.

Hey you guys,

Yeah, it too longer than I thought!

The iphone 5 manual says it needs 1.0A to charge it so I guess I'll take a risk. The gadget says it's putting out 5W and 1.0A so it sounds good to go.

Actually, I dislike my iphone intensely so if it does get fried it will a perfect reason to get a smartphone.

I'll keep you posted.

BTW Meldrew, I love your profile picture. Great play on words but is it for real?

Err... I was referring to one KurtPerthWA from Down Under. Smile It's a long time since he last posted. While he's been away it seems the bottom has fallen out the market for crap jokes.

That profile pic is of the road signs along the steep and twisty Kyffhäuser, a popular bikers road near the Harz Mountains in Germany where bikers try to get their knees down, or sometimes come off in a shower of sparks.  Sturzgefar means 'falling off' as there's plenty of opportunity in the 36 bends and curves  in 4.5km or about 2 .78 miles.

Riding down it in a thunderstorm is quite an experience.

That's cool, I lose my thread quite easily around here, along with my bearings !!

Interesting road though, could it be done safely on a SW? I'm always scraping my centre stand during normal riding on mine, although it has a knock-on effect of a belt around the head from the girl on the back !!

Let's see,  I've basically stopped riding due to shoulder problems. I still have my wing and look at it a lot.
Bali, Circuit of OZ 13,000km, Germany(Hired a beemer 800 for a day in the pfalz riding through the forest) river cruise, France, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, ( took the high speed Thylis train to Paris. and a trip to Tasmania in 2016
Singapore, Vietnam, Hong Kong South Korea and China. Another trip 14000 road trip through the middle of OZ and then some, with 2 trips to Melbourne 2017
In Darwin ATM, and another 5-6 week trip in May .....Now I am retired, I cannot work out when I actually had time to go to work. I occasionally, get an email from the site, so I look at it to keep in touch.
Looks like I've hijacked this post, but here goes
This true  story but worth considering for the joke of the year from me.
I was out shopping with the ball and chain You a now what it's like, yabber, yabber yabber... Every time I  suggested something .."No we don't need that"
eventually after a bit of stirring ,I was told "Oh whatever, if you see something you want, just get it. "
I said, "Too late, she was 3 aisles back in the bread aisle. and would be gone by now!)...............Silence.......perfect..........Evil or Very Mad

I love your 'thought for the day' moto Guru. I so want to mod my SW but experience has taught me not mess with stuff which works fine, particularly electrics. I've never managed to get brakes to work properly after messing with them either, always have to get a shop to fix them. With nuts and bolts, I'm fine.

I'll try my cigar lighter gadget when the weather clears enough for a decent ride. I only want this thing for when we are abroad and need the phone charged.

Sorry to hear about your shoulder too. I have a knackered shoulder, (from a previous bike accident) and I wonder how long I have left before it prevents me from riding but so far, so good.
