My bike has 16K. Installed back in early summer the belt. After a hundred miles I opened the case and observed that the belt has deposited a pile ofrubber dust as it has broken in. It appears the angle of the belt isn't exact and wears in. Belt slapping has started and quite noticeable. After 500 more miles I installed the OEM belt with new rollers. Immediately After installation and another 100 miles everything is back to normal, with normal acceleration and no belt slap.
As others have recommended, don't waste time and money on the generic belt like I bought off eBay from china.

Good advice and a lesson learned. I go with OEM belts always.

SilverWing----over 90,000 miles with 2 new ones, changed belts at about 15,000 mile intervals....never walked. At over 400,000 miles with rubber band drive scooters, on 11th new one, OEM belts seem to work best period-----the belt drive is the weakest link in the whole bike and deserves being taken care of.

Traveling---always carry spare belt as dealers won't have them in stock in case of break down.

Never, ever buy cheap rubber items. This applies to tyres, drive belts and condoms. Failure to follow this simple advice will inevitably end in tears.

Along the same lines... My Kawasaki side by side has a belt drive also and at nearly 3 K I had it replaced. A friend had his Can Am shred a belt and had to tow the beast home. He bought a bargain basement belt and saved 30 bucks or so. My OEM belt looked great and is now my spare, the new one is another Kawasaki OEM belt. Some things are NOT worth trying to save a shekel.
