Hi guys since its winter strip down and mini refurbishment the bike has developed a noise when braking. Its only when I use the front brake' and its revolution based ie the quicker the bike is traveling the more quickly the noise appears. So new pads went in over winter and initially no problem but now the noise is driving me mad. Warped disc is my only answer but when I use the back brake which also dose the front no noise and I proper squeeze the back so the front dives under braking and no noise absolutely nothing. So why when I use the front I get this warped disc noise. Grrrrr

I bet you've used a sintered pad rather the a 'natural' ?

But how come there is no noise when I use the back brake on its own I know the front pads are being pressed against the disc because the front dips 😒

Because by using the rear brake you are reducing the pressure applied between the pads & the disc (compared to the front lever) reduced pressure will increase the disc temperature, which will bring it closer to the operating temperature of sintered pads.

Another different compound, ceramic, sintered, organic pads, the IMPORTANT thing is using the correct pad for the rotor you are using, pad / rotor matches for proper wear and stopping power.

One other bit, SOME pads will benefit ( EBC ) for one if you take a file and knock the sharp edges off the new pad, don't know why for sure but it helped with some I've installed.

Sintered pads do "sing". They also wear out the disc slightly faster.

I hope it is just sintered pads making that awful noise and these ebc organic pair will be quieter no bothered if they wear out quicker there only a tenner 😊

I use OEM pads----Honda already figured everything out. Over 90,000 miles with 2 new SilverWings, never had to replace pad or pads.

Winter Tip: I squirt salt/dirt out/off with water hose.

As do I on the Viffer. Last longer too. The organic ones are very dusty, used them on my Deauville when I had that. Good for about 10,000 miles of London commuting. But they gripped well.

You may have a buzz if you put the SPRING PAD wrong. There will be a strong iron creak about the brake disc.

Do organic pads cause more brake dust on the rim as compared to metalic?

Brake dust is minimal with any pad wheels just get dirty from road dirt. Rear wheel is always dirtier than front because front picks it up and lands on the rear. Front does most of braking and it's cleaner?

I've seen some cars with black nasty front wheels from brake dust but driven hard and rarely washed.
