Hi well after feeling much love for my Silverwing for 3 months its suddenly gone all non Honda as developed a starting issue.

You switch on, it all primes up, but when you press the start button the headlight goes off but then nothing.

But then a few tries and it does start.

There seem to be varying gaps and erratic etc.

Just hoping someone had the same and sussed it.

The battery seems absolutely fine.

Doesn`t seem to be anything to do with the side stand, or you`d get nothing.

Any idea`s or hopefully someone who had similar etc be great please.

Thanks SWD

For someone that refuses to do an introduction, even when asked, you have a lot of questions and expect a lot of answers.

Silverwingdays, Several of our senior members have reminded you that it is considered forum courtesy to introduce yourself before posting questions.

So if you would be so kind...

Your problem is in the right Handlebar switch assembly, These have given trouble since the first Silverwings came into the Country. You can try filling the switch with cleaners Etc, It might help for a while, But you will still be faced with the same problem.

Once you have installed a new switch, You can prevent this problem recurring by using the following starting method.

Turn on the Ignition, Press the start button, Then pull your left Brake lever, The bike will start.

Once you have practiced this starting method, It will become automatic and you will not be faced with another Switch problem in a few thousand miles.

Thank you Lloyd, thats fantastic advice, and very much appreciated.

Now to source the switch, is it just the kill switch that causes this ?

Wish I hadn`t been using it, and just used the key.

I had noticed the kill switch seems a lot less fluid if you will, than my old T max one.

Just out of interest is there an emergency way to get it going please if it happens big time, as supposed to be going to visit relatives at the end of the week.

Thank you very much again.

Best SWD.

Hi Tim, I can assure you I will be a kind, and polite poster when on here, and have posted on a thread not by myself, and will do more I am sure.

I have the same start problem. Been working on it for weeks. Put new starter relay on it. Still nothing. Bypass the relay and turns over but doesn’t start. Checked other electrical components and no issue. I will Try this switch suggestion.
